5 Common Hair Problems
Are you struggling with a common hair problem? Conditions such as dandruff, hair loss and frizzy or damaged hair are common for both men and women. This article will look at five of the most commonly occurring conditions and will give information about how to improve the condition of your hair and scalp.
1. Dandruff
Dandruff is a widespread problem, while it may look or feel unpleasant, it’s not harmful and isn’t catching. If your hair is dark, dandruff may be more noticeable. Flakes may also fall onto your shoulders, and your head may feel itchy. You’ll probably have a dry scalp. Luckily dandruff is easy to treat; you can purchase an anti-dandruff shampoo from the chemists or from most major supermarkets. It may take around a month for you to notice improvements.
2. Hair Loss
While hair loss is more common in men, it also affects a high percentage of women at some point during their lives. Hair loss can be a worrying condition and can affect confidence. It may be caused by hormonal changes, stress, or other medical conditions. But it can also be heredity or as a result of certain medications. There are several shampoos, herbal remedies, and supplements available to help promote healthy hair growth. In some more severe cases, hair transplants may be needed.
3. Frizzy Hair
Your hair may become frizzy due to the weather conditions, humidity, excessive brushing, or because your hair is damaged. A good tip for dealing with frizzy hair is to wet your fingers and then use them to comb through dry, frizzy hair. You can water down a little bit of conditioner and apply this at the same time. Alternatively, there are many anti-frizz products on the market. After washing your hair, you can towel dry and then use some anti-frizz.
4. Oily or Greasy Hair
Oily or greasy hair is very common and is caused by the build-up of a natural secretion from glands on the scalp. This leads to a natural grease on the hair and scalp. Over-washing, using too much conditioner, over brushing and styling your hair can also cause hair to look oily. Running your fingers through your hair or absentmindedly, touching your hair during the day can also cause it to become greasy. Wash your hair less often to help improve the condition of your hair, instead use dry shampoo in between washes. You can also try using conditioner sparingly and only conditioning the ends of your hair.
5. Damaged Hair
Hair can become dry and damaged especially when it’s been exposed to heat. Either from the sun or tools such as hair dryers and straighteners. Damaged hair will have split ends and become frizzy; it may also feel dry and limp. To help protect against damaged hair, get the ends trimmed regularly, use a leave-in hair treatment and turn down the heat when drying and styling your hair.
